What's wrong?
In the 2016 Starcraft Solstice and Travel Star fifth wheel trailers, the on demand water heater supplies hot water to the sink and other hot water taps. It uses LP gas to heat water as it flows through the unit. The water valve and gas valve work together so water flow and burner output stay matched.
In affected heaters, the water flow adjustment in the poppet valve was set too low or shifted during transit. When flow drops to .3 gallons per minute or less, the heater can keep adding heat to too little moving water. That can send hotter than intended water to the hot water tap.
There is no warning sign before failure. The first sign can be water at the tap that is hotter than expected.
Who's affected?
Covers the Solstice and Travel Star RV lines with the same water heater LPG system.

What's the safety risk?
The overheating water can release steam and scald the operator, increasing the risk of injury. Avoid using the affected water system until the dealer installs the water flow adjustment stop key. Repair is free at any franchised Starcraft dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Starcraft technician installs a water flow adjustment stop key so the Atwood on demand water heater cannot reach the recall condition. The campaign description also lists a star or lock washer, plus a warning and tamper proof label, as part of the fix. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. Ask the service desk to confirm the water heater work is completed before you take the trailer home.
