Recall 16V066 affects 11 2015-2016 Peterbilt 367 and 365 vehicles for loose axle flange yoke nuts. Repair is free at any franchised Peterbilt dealer.
Peterbilt is recalling 11 2015-2016 365 and 367 trucks because hex nuts on the drive axle flange yoke were not tightened to specification. If the hardware loosens, the driveshaft can disconnect from the drive axle; the vehicle can lose propulsion, which increases crash risk, and Peterbilt dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The front drive steer axle on 2015-2016 Peterbilt 365 and 367 trucks carries drive force while also supporting steering at the front axle. The flange yoke is the bolted coupling on that axle that helps transfer driveline force into the axle while keeping the joint clamped in place. Its hex nuts have to stay tight so the connection does not move under load.
On affected trucks, the Marmon-Herrington axle was built with hex nuts on the flange yoke assembly that were not tightened to specification. A loose nut does not hold the joint with the intended clamping force. As the truck works, the yoke connection can move, wear, or lose its secure hold on the axle assembly.
There is no warning sign before failure. Do not rely on noise, vibration, or steering feel to reveal the problem before the hardware fails.

What's the safety risk?
Loose driveshaft hex nuts can let the driveshaft disconnect from the drive axle. If that happens, the truck can lose propulsion and the crash risk increases. Schedule the dealer inspection and torque check soon. If the truck loses propulsion, pull over when safe and arrange service. Repair is free at any franchised Peterbilt dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2015-2016 Peterbilt 367 or 365 is included in this recall.
- Contact your nearest franchised Peterbilt dealer to schedule the free axle flange-yoke hex-nut torque inspection and tightening that addresses the driveshaft disconnect risk.
- Bring the recall notice if Peterbilt mailed one. If not, reference recall number 16V066 when you call.
- Call Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000 with questions and ask for Peterbilt recall 216-A.
- Avoid unnecessary driving until the dealer completes the inspection and any needed tightening.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Peterbilt technician inspects the torque on the drive axle flange yoke bolts and tightens the bolts if they are loose. The inspection and any needed tightening are free under the recall, with dealer labor covered. Peterbilt's general reimbursement plan is on file for owners who paid out of pocket for the same repair before the recall work was available. Bring repair invoices, payment records, and any axle or flange yoke paperwork to the service desk so the dealer can route the claim under that plan.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 16V066?
Recall 16V066 covers 11 2015-2016 Peterbilt 367 and 365 vehicles with Marmon-Herrington drive axles. The flange-yoke hex nuts on the affected axles were not tightened to specification, so the driveshaft can disconnect from the drive axle, causing loss of propulsion and increasing crash risk. Peterbilt dealers inspect and tighten the hardware for free.
What should I do if my 2015-2016 Peterbilt 367 or 365 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 16V066. If it is, contact a franchised Peterbilt dealer to schedule the axle flange-yoke torque inspection. Reference recall number 16V066 or Peterbilt campaign 216-A when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to fix the defect at no cost. For recall 16V066, Peterbilt dealers inspect the axle flange-yoke torque and tighten the hardware when needed, free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is loss of propulsion. If the flange-yoke hex nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft can disconnect from the drive axle. That can leave the truck without power to move and increase the risk of a crash.
What if I bought my Peterbilt used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the VIN, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your 2015-2016 Peterbilt 367 or 365 is included, then contact a franchised Peterbilt dealer or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000.
