Recall 16V023 affects 195 2010-2015 Altec AH100, AH75, and AH85 aerial devices for unexpected movement. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
Altec is recalling 195 2010-2015 AH100, AH75, and AH85 aerial devices because a hydraulic pressure control valve can let the device move without an operator command. Unexpected movement increases the risk of injury to the operator, and Altec service will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The hydraulic pressure control valve on 2010-2015 Altec AH100, AH75, and AH85 aerial devices helps control oil pressure that moves the boom and other hydraulic functions. In normal operation, the valve responds to the operator controls and helps keep movement tied to a commanded function. The electrical coil in the Parker Pulsar valve opens or closes the valve when the control circuit calls for movement.
On affected units, a manufacturing defect in that coil lets water exposure create a short to ground. When the interlock circuit is active, that short can make the aerial device move without an operator command. The issue is tied to the vendor-supplied Pulsar valve coil; updated Pulsars use added sealing and are identifiable by a blue or clear seal with blue printing on the connector end of the wire jacket.
The warning sign is uncommanded movement during the daily preoperational inspection described in the operator's manual. Releasing the interlock trigger or pressing Emergency Stop stops the movement. If that happens, do not operate the unit until the affected Pulsar is replaced.

What's the safety risk?
Unexpected movement of the aerial device increases the risk of injury to the operator. Watch for uncommanded movement during the Daily Preoperational Inspection. If movement occurs, release the interlock trigger or use the Emergency Stop, then keep the unit out of service until repaired. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
