Recall 15V850 covers 9,456 2012-2015 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 trucks for fuel-return-hose detachment. Repair is free at any franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer.
Mitsubishi Fuso is recalling 9,456 2012-2015 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 trucks because the fuel return hose can deteriorate, swell, and detach after exposure to chemicals or lubricants. A detached hose creates a fuel-leak risk and raises the risk of fire; the dealer repair will be free once Mitsubishi Fuso makes it available.

What's wrong?
The fuel return hose carries unused diesel fuel back through the fuel system instead of letting it stay in the engine feed line. On 2012-2015 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 trucks, that hose has to keep its shape while exposed to engine heat, shop chemicals, and lubricants during normal operation and maintenance.
In this recall, the hose material was not made with the correct composition. Chemical or lubricant exposure can make the hose swell. Once it swells, it can loosen and detach from its fitting, which leaves an open path for diesel fuel to leak. In the worst case, leaked fuel can ignite and start an engine fire.
There is no warning sign before failure. A truck can go from normal operation to a detached fuel return hose without a clear driver warning beforehand.

What's the safety risk?
A detached fuel hose can leak fuel and raise the risk of a fire. Drive cautiously until the dealer inspects the hose, and contact the dealer right away if you smell fuel or see fuel under the truck. Repair will be free at any franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2012-2015 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC52, FEC92, FGB72, or FEC72 is included in this recall.
- Watch for the Mitsubishi Fuso owner letter mailed for this recall, then contact a franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer about the free inspection.
- Schedule the fuel-return-hose inspection and replacement that fixes the hose swelling and detachment risk.
- Reference recall number 15V850 when you call the dealer, and bring the recall notice if you have it.
- Avoid driving if you smell fuel or see a fuel leak before the hose is inspected, and ask the dealer about towing.
What happens at the repair
Mitsubishi Fuso began owner notifications on February 15, 2016, but this status does not confirm that the final dealer repair is open for scheduling. Once available, a Mitsubishi Fuso technician will inspect the fuel return hose and replace it with an improved hose if the hose is swollen, deteriorated, or no longer secure. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Use your VIN before planning service so the dealer can confirm whether your truck is included and what repair instructions apply.
