Recall 15V776 covers 15,730 2013-2014 International Prostar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, and Transtar trucks for high engine idle. Repair is free at franchised International dealers.
International is recalling 15,730 2013-2014 Prostar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, and Transtar trucks because the accelerator pedal position sensor can move and lead to a high engine idle. The safety concern is slower deceleration on long grades, with difficult downshifting and disabled engine braking increasing crash risk; International dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The accelerator pedal position sensor on 2013-2014 International Transtar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, and Prostar trucks tells the engine computer how far the driver is pressing the pedal. In normal use, that signal rises and falls with pedal movement so the engine returns to idle when the driver lifts off the accelerator.
On affected trucks with manually shifted transmissions, the sensor stator, the stationary part inside the sensor assembly, can shift on its mounting bracket after extra force is applied to the accelerator pedal. Once that part moves out of position, the sensor sends the wrong idle signal to the engine computer. The engine computer can then hold a higher idle than intended, including when the clutch pedal is pressed.
Owners can notice increased engine RPM at idle or increased RPM when the clutch pedal is depressed. If the truck has an engine brake, that brake can be disabled while the sensor signal is out of position.
Who's affected?
Spans five International truck models across the 2013 and 2014 model years, all tied to the accelerator pedal.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific truck.
What's the safety risk?
High engine idle can make downshifting difficult and disable the engine brake, which hinders slowing the truck on a long downgrade and increases crash risk. Watch for higher idle RPM, higher RPM when the clutch pedal is depressed, or a disabled engine brake. Schedule the ECM recalibration soon. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2013-2014 International Transtar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, or Prostar truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised International dealer to schedule the free ECM recalibration that fixes the high-idle condition from the accelerator pedal position sensor.
- Bring any recall notice you have, and reference recall number 15V776 when you call.
- Avoid long downhill grades until the ECM recalibration is complete if the truck shows a high idle or downshifting feels difficult.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an International technician recalibrates the electronic control module so it recognizes when the accelerator pedal is at the idle position. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. International's standard reimbursement plan covers documented out-of-pocket repairs paid before the recall notice. If you already paid for an accelerator pedal sensor repair or a repair tied to high engine idle, bring documentation and ask the service desk how to submit it under that plan.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V776?
Recall 15V776 covers 15,730 2013-2014 International Transtar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, and Prostar trucks with an accelerator pedal position sensor that can move and cause high engine idle. International dealers will recalibrate the electronic control module for free.
What should I do if my 2013-2014 International Transtar, Durastar, Workstar, Lonestar, or Prostar is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 15V776. If it is, contact a franchised International dealer to schedule the electronic control module recalibration. Reference recall number 15V776 or International recall number 15517 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and International dealers will recalibrate the electronic control module free of charge. Parts and labor are covered under recall 15V776.
What is the safety risk in recall 15V776?
A high engine idle can make downshifting difficult and disable the engine brake. On a long grade, that can make it harder to slow the truck and increase crash risk. That risk is tied to recall 15V776, and the free dealer repair addresses the idle-recognition problem.
What if I bought my International truck used?
The free repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the truck, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific 2013-2014 International truck is included, then call a franchised International dealer with recall number 15V776.
