Recall 15V773 covers 2,029 2006-2014 Coach And Equipment transit buses for wheelchair lift platform-mounting failure. Repair is free at a franchised dealer.
Coach And Equipment recall 15V773 covers 2,029 2006-2014 Alley Cat, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Phoenix, and Condor Lt transit buses with Ricon wheelchair lifts because oversized pivot holes in the folding link arms can let bearings move out of position. That movement can let the stowed platform loosen and fall when the doors open, raising injury risk for the lift operator; the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The wheelchair lift on these 2006-2014 Coach And Equipment Alley Cat, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Phoenix, and Condor Lt buses raises and lowers a wheelchair user between the curb and the bus floor. Its folding link arms guide the platform as it moves, and bearings at the pivot holes keep those arms aligned under load.
On the recalled lifts, the pivot holes in the folding link arms are too large. That extra space lets the bearings move out of position instead of holding the arm joints in line. Once the bearings shift, the lift mechanism no longer supports and guides the platform the way it was designed to do.
There is no warning sign before failure. An operator or owner should not count on noise, looseness, or a visible change in the lift to appear before the link-arm bearing problem affects the lift.

What's the safety risk?
If the lift bearings move out of position, the stowed platform can move too much and the platform mounting can fail. When the doors are opened, the wheelchair lift platform can fall out of the vehicle. That raises injury risk for the lift operator. Repair will be free at any franchised Coach And Equipment dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2006-2014 Coach And Equipment Alley Cat, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Phoenix, or Condor Lt bus is included in this recall.
- Use the Coach And Equipment owner notice before scheduling service, or call customer service if you did not receive one.
- Contact Coach And Equipment customer service at 1-800-724-8464 and reference recall number 15V773 when you call.
- Schedule the free wheelchair-lift inspection and repair that checks the folding link arms, bearings, and platform mounting for damage.
- Avoid using the wheelchair lift until the inspection is complete and any damaged parts are replaced.
What happens at the repair
Once the dealer remedy is available, a Coach And Equipment technician will inspect the Ricon wheelchair lift link arms for damage and displaced bearings. The technician will also check the platform for cracks. Damaged link arms, bearings, platform parts, or related lift components will be replaced at no charge under the recall. The same inspection still applies even if the bus or lift received the earlier related remedy, because those vehicles remain included in this recall.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V773?
Recall 15V773 covers 2,029 2006-2014 Coach And Equipment Alley Cat, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Phoenix, and Condor Lt transit buses with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts. The lift link-arm pivot holes can let bearings move out of position, so Ricon dealers will inspect and replace damaged parts for free.
What should I do if my 2006-2014 Coach And Equipment Alley Cat, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Phoenix, or Condor Lt is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 15V773. If it is, contact Coach And Equipment or a Ricon dealer to schedule the wheelchair-lift inspection. Reference recall 15V773 and Coach And Equipment recall number 15E-068 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the recall remedy to be performed at no cost. Ricon dealers will inspect the wheelchair lift link arms, bearings, and platform, then replace damaged parts free of charge.
What is the safety risk in recall 15V773?
The risk is that the stowed wheelchair lift platform can move excessively if the bearings shift out of position. That movement can cause the platform mounting to fail, letting the platform fall out of the bus when the doors open and increasing injury risk for the lift operator.
What if my bus already had the earlier wheelchair lift recall repair?
It is still included if the VIN matches this recall. Coach And Equipment says buses and lifts repaired under the similar 2014 recall remain affected by recall 15V773, so check your VIN and arrange the Ricon inspection even if prior lift work was completed.
