Recall 15V770 covers 25 2006-2014 Micro Bird Ct-Series, Mb Ii Transit Bus, and G5 Transit Bus buses with defective wheelchair lift link arms. Free repair.
Micro Bird is recalling 25 2006-2014 Ct-Series, Mb Ii Transit Bus, and G5 Transit Bus transit buses because Ricon wheelchair lift folding link arms have oversized pivot holes that let bearings move out of position. If that happens, the stowed platform can move excessively and fall out when the doors open, raising injury risk for the lift operator; Micro Bird dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The wheelchair lift on 2006-2014 Micro Bird Ct-Series, Mb Ii Transit Bus, and G5 Transit Bus buses is adaptive mobility equipment that raises and lowers a passenger platform at the doorway. Folding link arms and pivot plates guide that platform as it moves, then hold it in position when the lift is stowed.
On the recalled lifts, the pivot holes in the folding link arms are too large. That lets the bearings shift out of place, which bends the knuckle arms and stresses the platform pivot plate. When the lift is stowed, that stress can crack the pivot plate instead of keeping the platform supported as designed.
The warning sign is visible cracking on the pivot plate during routine inspection. If a driver, technician, or bus operator sees cracks around that plate, the lift hardware has started to fail and needs recall repair before the lift returns to service.

What's the safety risk?
If bearings move out of position, the stowed wheelchair lift platform can move excessively and the platform mounting can fail. When the doors are opened, the platform can fall out of the vehicle and increase injury risk for the lift operator. Visible cracks on the pivot plate are a warning sign. Repair is free at any franchised Micro Bird dealer.

Recall 15V770 covers 25 2006-2014 Micro Bird Ct-Series, Mb Ii Transit Bus, and G5 Transit Bus vehicles with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts. The folding link arms can have oversized pivot holes, allowing bearings to move out of position. Ricon dealers will inspect the lift and replace damaged parts for free.
What should I do if my 2006-2014 Micro Bird Ct-Series, Mb Ii Transit Bus, or G5 Transit Bus is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 15V770. If it is, contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 or a Ricon dealer to arrange the wheelchair-lift inspection. Reference Micro Bird recall number 15-063-RUC when you call.
