What's wrong?
The on-demand water heater in these 2013-2015 Evergreen recreational vehicles heats water only when someone opens a hot water tap. Water flow through the heater tells the burner how much heat to add, and the water and gas valve helps keep that flow and heat output in balance.
The problem is inside the water flow adjustment feature, a poppet valve that controls how much water moves through the heater. On affected Atwood units, that valve drifted during transit or was set at the factory so the water flow is too low. When flow drops to .3 gal/minute or less, the burner can overheat the water headed to the hot water tap. That creates a scald risk for the person using the sink or shower.
There is no warning sign before failure. The water heater can produce dangerously hot water at the tap before the owner notices a problem.

What's the safety risk?
Overheated water can release steam, scald the operator, and increase the risk of injury. Treat steam from the water heater as a burn hazard, keep hands and face clear, and arrange the recall repair before using the system again. Repair will be free at any franchised Evergreen dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2013-2015 Evergreen Bay Hill, Lifestyle, Amped, I-Go, Sun Valley, Element, Reactor, or Ever-Lite RV is included in this recall.
- Contact Evergreen customer service to confirm when the free hot water heater rework kit is ready for your RV.
- Ask about the Atwood water-heater valve rework kit that stops overheating at the hot water tap.
- Use the Evergreen owner notice when you call, or reference recall number 15V764 if you do not have the notice.
- Avoid using hot water from the affected Atwood on-demand water heater until the rework kit is installed.
What happens at the repair
Evergreen has identified the dealer fix as a hot water heater rework kit for the affected Atwood on-demand water heater. Once Evergreen opens the final repair, an Evergreen technician will install the kit to address the water and gas valve condition that can overheat water at the hot water tap. Parts and labor will be covered under the recall. Evergreen has a general reimbursement plan on file, so owners who already paid for a related water heater repair should contact Evergreen customer service and keep repair invoices or other documentation for the claim.
