Recall 15V748 covers 1,442 2006-2015 Goshen buses with Ricon wheelchair lifts for platform-mounting failure. Repair will be free at any franchised Goshen dealer once available.
Goshen is recalling 1,442 2006-2015 buses, including Pacer, Gcii, and Mainstream Low Floor models, because certain Ricon wheelchair lift folding link arms have pivot holes that are too large and let bearings move out of position. The recall warns that the stowed platform can move excessively, fail at its mounting, and fall when the doors open; the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The recalled equipment is the Ricon wheelchair lift installed on certain 2006-2015 Goshen buses. The lift uses folding link arms to raise and lower the platform between the ground and the bus floor. Those arms pivot on bearings, which are supposed to stay centered in the pivot holes so the platform stays aligned while a passenger or mobility device is on it.
On the affected lifts, the pivot holes in the folding link arms are too large. That extra space lets the bearings move out of position instead of holding the joint tightly. Goshen also tied the problem to cracking at the platform pivot plate, the metal support point that carries the load as the lift moves. When that joint loosens or cracks, the platform no longer has the support it was designed to have.
There is no warning sign before failure. Because the filing does not identify an early symptom, operators should not rely on a sound, light, or visible cue before the lift joint fails.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.
What's the safety risk?
In recall 15V748, displaced bearings let the stowed wheelchair lift platform move too much. That movement can damage the platform mounting and let the platform fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing injury risk for the lift operator. Use care when opening doors and arranging service. Repair will be free at any franchised Goshen dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2006-2015 Goshen bus is included in this recall.
- Use the Goshen owner notice mailed on November 23, 2015 to confirm the next repair step for your bus.
- Contact Goshen customer service at 1-574-970-6300 and reference recall number 15V748 when you call.
- Ask a franchised Goshen dealer about the free wheelchair-lift inspection and parts replacement that fixes loose link-arm bearings and platform cracks.
- Keep passengers and lift operators clear of the wheelchair lift until Goshen or the dealer confirms the platform has been inspected.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Goshen technician inspects the wheelchair lift link arms for damage or displaced bearings, then checks the platform for cracks. The repair process also covers replacement of damaged parts. The final dealer repair will be free once available, with parts and labor covered under the recall. Goshen's general reimbursement plan is on file for owners who already paid for related lift repairs. Ask Goshen customer service what documentation the plan requires for a claim.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V748?
Recall 15V748 covers 1,442 2006-2015 Goshen buses with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts. The folding link arms can let bearings move out of position, which can lead to platform mounting failure and injury risk for the lift operator. Goshen dealers inspect the lift and replace damaged parts for free.
What should I do if my 2006-2015 Goshen bus is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 15V748. If it is, contact a franchised Goshen dealer or Goshen customer service at 1-574-970-6300 and reference recall 15V748. The dealer inspection and covered parts replacement are free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. For recall 15V748, Goshen dealers inspect the wheelchair lift link arms, bearings, and platform, then replace damaged parts free of charge.
What is the safety risk with this Goshen wheelchair lift recall?
The risk is platform mounting failure when the wheelchair lift is stowed. If the bearings move out of position, the platform can move too much and fall out of the vehicle when the doors open, increasing injury risk for the lift operator.
What if my bus already had the earlier 2014 lift recall repair?
Your bus still needs a VIN check for recall 15V748. Goshen states that vehicles and wheelchair lifts repaired under the similar 2014 recall are still affected by this recall. Reference recall 15V748 when you contact the dealer or Goshen customer service.
