Recall 15V615 covers 910 2006-2007 Pierce vehicles for torn front ball joint boots. Repair is free at any franchised Pierce dealer.
Pierce is recalling 910 2006-2007 Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, and Dash vehicles because torn ball joint protective boots can let contamination reach the ball joints. That contamination can cause premature ball joint failure and allow a wheel to disengage from the control arm, increasing crash risk; Pierce dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The front upper and lower ball joints on 2006-2007 Pierce Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, and Dash apparatus connect the front control arms to the wheel-end steering knuckle. They let the front wheels steer and move with the suspension while holding the wheel assembly in its proper position. The protective boot around each ball joint keeps grease in and road debris out.
On affected Pierce trucks, inconsistent manufacturing of the protective boots led to an elevated number of tears. Once the boot tears, dirt and debris reach the ball joint and contaminate the grease. That contamination accelerates wear in the joint, and excessive wear has been associated with ball joint separation and wheel detachment reports.
The warning sign is not a dashboard light or a sound listed in the recall filing. Excessive or premature wear is found through inspections under Pierce's published maintenance schedule, so maintenance records and ball joint inspection results matter for this recall.

What's the safety risk?
Contamination can lead to premature ball joint wear, ball joint failure, and a wheel separating from the control arm, which increases crash risk. Follow Pierce's maintenance inspection schedule and treat torn boots or unexpected ball joint wear as a reason to schedule service soon. Repair is free at any franchised Pierce dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2006-2007 Pierce Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, or Dash is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Pierce dealer to schedule the free ball-joint boot inspection and wear evaluation that checks for contaminated ball joints.
- Ask the dealer whether worn ball joints need replacement before the vehicle returns to service.
- Bring the recall notice if Pierce mailed one. Reference recall number 15V615 and Pierce recall 74B267 when you call.
- Avoid unnecessary driving until the inspection and any repair are complete.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Pierce technician inspects the ball joint boots for tears and checks ball joint wear against Pierce's expected wear level. Torn boots are replaced. If a ball joint shows unexpected wear from contamination, the technician replaces that ball joint as well. The inspection, covered boot replacement, and covered ball joint replacement are free under the recall. Pierce also provides reimbursement for owners who previously paid to replace torn boots on the affected vehicles. Bring repair paperwork or payment documentation to the service desk so Pierce can review the prior boot repair under its reimbursement plan.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V615?
Recall 15V615 covers 910 2006-2007 Pierce Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, and Dash vehicles with ball joint protective boots that can tear. Torn boots can let contamination reach the ball joints, leading to premature wear and a higher crash risk.
What should I do if my 2006-2007 Pierce Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, or Dash is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your exact Pierce vehicle is included in recall 15V615. If it is, contact a Pierce dealer to schedule the inspection. The dealer will inspect the ball joint boots, evaluate ball joint wear, and replace worn ball joints for free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Pierce says the inspection, wear evaluation, and needed ball joint replacement are free. Reference recall 15V615 or Pierce recall number 74B267 when you call the dealer.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is premature ball joint failure. If contamination reaches the ball joint, the wheel can disengage from the control arm, increasing crash risk. The repair path is to have a Pierce dealer inspect the boots and ball joint wear, then replace parts that show unexpected wear.
What if I bought the Pierce vehicle used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your Pierce Arrow Xt, Quantum, Lance, Enforcer, Impel, or Dash is included, then call a Pierce dealer and reference recall 15V615.
