What's wrong?
The seat belt tab on the 2015 Eldorado Amerivan is the metal latch plate at the end of the original Toyota seat belt. It is supposed to slide into the Qstem buckle assembly and lock the belt in place. That buckle is part of the Amerivan setup used to restrain an occupant seated in a mobility aid device in a front outboard seating position.
On affected Amerivans, molded plastic on the Toyota seat belt tab interferes with the housing around the Qstem buckle. Because of that interference, the tab does not fully seat in the buckle slot. The belt can look connected without being fully latched, then separate when the belt is pulled in opposite directions.
What you notice is at the buckle. The tab does not latch securely into the Qstem buckle, and the belt can unlatch when force is applied.

What's the safety risk?
If the seat belt unlatches, the occupant is not properly restrained and faces a higher risk of injury in a crash. The belt tab can separate from the Q-stem buckle under opposing load, so schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Eldorado dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Eldorado technician installs a new Q-stem assembly with an alternate buckle assembly so the Toyota seat belt tab latches correctly. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor, and the repair is available now. Eldorado has a general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid for a related seat belt buckle repair before the recall notice. If you have prior repair paperwork, bring the invoices or receipts to the service desk and ask how to submit them.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V556?
Recall 15V556 covers 23 2015 Eldorado Amerivan vehicles built on Toyota Sienna chassis with a seat belt latch mismatch. The Toyota seat belt tab can fail to stay latched in the Amerivan Q-stem buckle assembly. Eldorado dealers install a new Q-stem assembly with an alternate buckle assembly for free.
What should I do if my 2015 Eldorado Amerivan is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Amerivan is included in recall 15V556. If it is, contact an Eldorado dealer or Eldorado customer service at 1-785-827-1033 to schedule the free Q-stem buckle assembly repair. Reference recall number 15V556 when you call.
Does the recall repair cost anything?
No. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Eldorado's remedy states that dealers install the new Q-stem assembly with an alternate buckle assembly free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is loss of seat belt restraint. If the seat belt unlatches, the occupant is not properly restrained and faces increased injury risk in a crash. The repair replaces the Q-stem assembly with an alternate buckle assembly so the belt latches correctly.
What if I bought my Eldorado Amerivan used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall eligibility follows the VIN, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your 2015 Eldorado Amerivan is included, then call an Eldorado dealer or Eldorado customer service and reference recall 15V556.
