What's wrong?
The fuel tank on the 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R stores gasoline and routes overflow fuel and vapor safely through passages built into the tank. At the rear lower area of the tank, threaded inserts give KTM a place to secure related hardware and seals. Those inserts must stay sealed so fuel remains inside the tank.
On affected motorcycles, the internal fuel tank overflow pipe was not coated correctly during production by the vendor. That coating problem leaves the rear threaded insert area vulnerable to small fuel leaks. Fuel can seep from the inserts at the rear of the gas tank, especially around the lower and underside area where the remedy adds seals.
There is no warning sign before failure. If fuel starts leaking, an owner notices it only after fuel is already present, such as a gasoline smell or visible wetness near the rear underside of the tank.

What's the safety risk?
Fuel leaking from the threaded inserts can raise the risk of a fire when an ignition source is present. Schedule the recall repair soon. If you see or smell fuel before the appointment, stop riding and call the dealer for guidance. Repair is free at any franchised KTM dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised KTM dealer to schedule the free threaded-insert sealing that stops fuel leaking from the rear of the gas tank.
- Ask the dealer to inspect the gas tank for an existing leak; KTM replaces the tank if the leak is already present.
- Bring the recall notice if KTM mailed one. If not, reference recall number 15V441 and KTM recall TB1507 when you call.
- Avoid riding if you smell fuel or see fuel near the rear of the gas tank; contact the dealer before moving the motorcycle.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a KTM technician seals the threaded inserts at the rear of the gas tank to stop future fuel leaks. If the motorcycle already shows fuel leaking at those inserts, the technician replaces the gas tank instead. These recall repairs are free, including parts and labor. KTM has a general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid for the same fuel leak repair before the recall work was done. Ask the dealer or KTM customer service how to submit repair documentation for review.
