What's wrong?
The TR-3 inversion valve is part of the air brake system on 2014-2015 Silver Eagle CTL-40W, VAST-20N, and VAST-20W converter dollies. In this setup, the valve helps control parking brake function on dollies that do not use spring brakes. The air brake system depends on the valve opening and closing correctly so the brakes release when the driver expects them to release.
On the recalled dollies, a component inside the Bendix TR-3 valve was made outside specification limits. That defect can leave the service brakes partly applied after they should have released. The result is brake drag, where the brakes keep rubbing as the dolly moves and the drivetrain has to work against that resistance.
A driver can notice the problem before it becomes worse. The warning signs are increased resistance from the vehicle drivetrain while driving, or an odor from brakes that are overheating.
