What's wrong?
The 2007-2015 Eldorado Axess, Xhf, and E-Z Rider Ii buses in this recall use certain Cummins Westport ISL G engines with an open crankcase ventilation breather. That breather filters oil from pressurized gases that escape the crankcase during normal engine operation, then a vent tube routes those gases down toward the bottom of the engine.
The failure starts when crankcase pressure rises too high. In known incidents, the main cause was a cracked piston. Under that pressure, the barbs on the breather exit tube do not hold the 90-degree elbow tightly enough, so the elbow can detach from the vent tube assembly. Once it separates, engine oil can reach hot surfaces.
Before the elbow separates, an owner or driver can notice loss of engine power, amber or red engine diagnostic lamps, or erratic engine operation. Treat those signs as a reason to keep the bus out of service until Eldorado service support inspects the engine and vent tube.
