What's wrong?
The open crankcase ventilation breather on the 2008-2016 Kenworth trucks filters oil out of pressurized combustion gases that escape from the engine crankcase during normal operation. A vent tube assembly connects to that breather and directs those gases down toward the bottom of the engine, away from hot engine surfaces.
In campaign 15V309, excessive crankcase pressure can force the 90-degree elbow of that vent tube assembly off the crankcase breather. Once the elbow detaches, engine oil is no longer routed as designed. Oil can reach hot surfaces in the engine compartment, which increases the risk of fire.
