Recall 15V193 affects 26 2014-2015 Oshkosh S-Series concrete mixer vehicles for undersized brake air tanks. Repair is free at any franchised Oshkosh dealer.
Oshkosh is recalling 26 2014-2015 S-Series front discharge concrete mixers because their air tanks hold less air than the federal air-brake standard requires. In certain situations, the smaller air supply can leave too little air to operate the brakes, increasing crash risk, and Oshkosh dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge.

What's wrong?
The air brake system on 2014-2015 Oshkosh S-Series concrete mixer trucks stores compressed air in tanks, then sends that air to the service brake chambers when the driver presses the brake pedal. Those chambers use air pressure to apply the brakes at the wheels. The air tanks need enough reserve capacity to keep the primary brake system supplied during repeated brake use.
On affected trucks, the wrong size air tank was installed for the 7-axle configuration with the ISX diesel engine. The tank holds less air than the required 12 times the combined volume of the service brake chambers. That means the truck was built with less air reserve than the braking standard requires, so the fix is a larger air tank.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver is not told by a special symptom that the tank is undersized, so the issue has to be corrected by replacing the recalled tank with the larger remedy tank.
Who's affected?
Both S-Series model years share the same brake system component in this recall.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
An undersized air tank can leave the vehicle without enough air to operate the brakes in certain situations, increasing the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before this air supply problem affects braking, so schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Oshkosh dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014-2015 Oshkosh S-Series is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Oshkosh dealer to schedule the free larger-capacity air tank replacement that restores the required brake air reserve.
- Bring the recall notice if Oshkosh mailed one. If not, reference recall number 15V193 when you call.
- Call Oshkosh customer service at 1-888-686-7278 with questions about scheduling or recall number 15V193.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete; leave extra following distance because the undersized air tank reduces brake air reserve.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Oshkosh technician installs a larger capacity air tank so the brake air supply meets the required capacity for the service brake chambers. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. If you chose to make this repair yourself, McNeilus provides the parts at no cost and reimburses labor costs after you submit a request to McNeilus. Keep repair paperwork with your service records.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V193?
Recall 15V193 covers 26 2014-2015 Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Concrete Mixer vehicles with air tanks that hold less than 12 times the combined volume of the service brake chambers. That brake-air capacity defect violates FMVSS No. 121, and Oshkosh dealers install a larger-capacity air tank for free.
What should I do if my 2014-2015 Oshkosh S-Series is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 15V193. If it is, contact an Oshkosh dealer to schedule installation of the larger-capacity air tank. Reference recall number 15V193 or Oshkosh recall number VSR-TSB-010 when you call. The repair is free.
