Recall 15V127 affects 45,036 2007-2011 Freightliner Cascadia trucks for SAM chassis corrosion and intermittent trailer-light operation. Repair is free at any franchised Freightliner dealer.
Freightliner is recalling 45,036 2007-2011 Cascadia trucks because water intrusion into the Signal-detection and Activation Module Chassis can corrode the module, create electrical shorts, and disrupt trailer lights. Intermittent trailer lights can leave other drivers without a clear slowing or stopping signal, increasing crash risk, and Freightliner dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The SAM Chassis on 2007-2011 Freightliner Cascadia trucks is an electrical control module for chassis functions. In plain terms, it receives signals and turns related circuits on or off, including circuits tied to trailer lighting. It belongs inside the cab area, where its housing is supposed to keep moisture away from the electronics.
In recall 15V127, the problem is water intrusion at the back side of the SAM Chassis. Freightliner found that water can enter even when the front cover is properly fastened. Once moisture reaches the module, corrosion forms on internal electrical parts. Corrosion can create shorts or interrupt the signals that keep trailer lights operating.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or driver can discover the problem only after the module has corroded, such as trailer lights cutting in and out or other electrical behavior tied to the SAM Chassis.
Who's affected?
Covers one Cascadia model line across five model years, all tied to the electrical system.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
Intermittent trailer lights can leave other drivers unaware that the truck is slowing or stopping, increasing crash risk. An electrical short in the SAM chassis also creates a fire risk. Schedule the inspection and repair soon, and report trailer-light problems or electrical symptoms when you call the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Freightliner dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2007-2011 Freightliner Cascadia is included in this recall.
- Contact your nearest franchised Freightliner dealer to schedule the free SAM chassis inspection and drip-shield repair that addresses water intrusion, corrosion, trailer-light interruptions, and electrical shorts.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it, and reference recall number 15V127 when you call.
- Check trailer lights before a trip. Stop using the truck and call the dealer if the trailer lights operate intermittently.
- Keep the repair appointment even if the trailer lights work; water in the SAM chassis can cause corrosion and fire risk.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Freightliner technician inspects the SAM chassis for corrosion and replaces it if needed. If the cab does not have a drip shield mounted over the SAM chassis, the technician installs one to help keep water away from the module. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. DTNA lists a reimbursement plan for documented prior repairs. If you paid for the same SAM chassis corrosion repair before the recall work, contact DTNA customer service with your repair documentation and ask how to submit a claim.
