What's wrong?
The Latitude awning on affected 2015 Lance Slide-In Camper and Travel Trailer units uses lateral arm brackets and mounting brackets to hold the awning support arms in place. Those arms carry the load as the awning extends, retracts, and stays supported against the side of the camper or trailer. The small screws between the brackets are part of that load path.
The problem is with the screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets. Carefree of Colorado told Lance the screws were made with the wrong process, so the affected screws do not meet specification. Under normal awning use, the screw heads can break off. Once that happens, the awning loses support at that bracket connection and a support arm is affected.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners should not rely on noise, looseness, or a visible change to tell them the screws are about to break.
Who's affected?
Covers both Lance camper formats listed in the filing: Slide-In Camper and Travel Trailer, with the equipment component listed for each.

The model name narrows the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific RV is included.
What's the safety risk?
Failed screws can let the support bracket fail and allow the awning to fall, striking and injuring someone beneath it. Keep people clear of the awning area until the dealer removes and replaces the defective screws. Repair is free at any franchised Lance dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2015 Lance Slide-In Camper or Travel Trailer is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Lance dealer to schedule the free awning-screw replacement that secures the lateral arm brackets.
- Bring the owner letter if Lance mailed one. If not, reference recall number 15V109 when you call.
- Keep people clear of the awning until the replacement screws are installed.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Lance technician removes the defective screws in the Latitude awning bracket assembly and installs replacement screws that meet the required specification. The work focuses on the screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered by Lance. Ask the service desk to confirm the affected awning hardware is replaced before the camper or trailer is returned.
