Recall 15V063 covers 3,111 2014-2015 Utility FS2CHA, VS1RA, VS1DC, VS2DX, and VS2RA trailers for brake actuator defects. Free repair at a Utility dealer.
Utility is recalling 3,111 2014-2015 FS2CHA, VS2DX, VS1DC, VS2RA, and VS1RA trailers because certain Haldex parking brake actuators have an internal diaphragm that was not fully attached. The defect can trap air pressure, cause brake drag, overheat wheelend service brakes, and increase the risk of a fire; Utility dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The parking brake actuator on the 2014-2015 Utility VS1RA, VS1DC, VS2DX, VS2RA, and FS2CHA trailers is the air brake chamber that applies and releases the parking brake. It uses air pressure and spring force to move an internal mechanism, so the trailer stays parked when set and rolls freely when released.
On affected trailers, the Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuator has a misaligned internal rubber diaphragm. That diaphragm is supposed to attach cleanly to the actuation mechanism inside the parking brake section. When the attachment is incomplete, the brake chamber does not move as designed, and the parking brake section can leave the brakes dragging instead of fully releasing.
There is no warning sign before failure. After the problem starts, a driver or service technician can notice dragging brakes, excess heat at the wheel end, or a trailer that feels harder to pull than normal.
Who's affected?
Spans five Utility trailer models across 2014 and 2015, all tied to the same parking-brake actuator.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.
What's the safety risk?
Internal leakage past an incompletely attached diaphragm can trap air pressure in the parking brake section. If that pressure is not vented, the actuator can fail to release fully, causing brake drag and overheated wheelend service brakes that increase the risk of a fire. Repair is free at any franchised Utility dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014-2015 Utility VS1RA, VS1DC, VS2DX, VS2RA, or FS2CHA trailer is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Utility dealer to schedule the free air-brake actuator replacement that addresses brake drag from the parking-brake actuator.
- Bring the recall notice if Utility mailed one. If not, reference recall number 15V063 when you call.
- Call Utility customer service at 1-800-423-6591 with questions and reference Utility recall 14E075.
- Avoid operating the trailer if brake drag or overheated wheelend brakes are present; ask the dealer how to move it safely.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Utility technician replaces the affected Haldex Life Seal air brake actuators at no charge. The recall repair is available now, and parts and labor are covered. Haldex is also contacting service locations to provide training or physical inspection support for affected units. Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V063?
Recall 15V063 covers 3,111 2014-2015 Utility VS1RA, VS1DC, VS2DX, VS2RA, and FS2CHA trailers with certain Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuators. An internal diaphragm attachment defect can lead to brake drag and overheated wheel end service brakes, raising fire risk.
What should I do if my 2014-2015 Utility VS1RA, VS1DC, VS2DX, VS2RA, or FS2CHA is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific trailer is included in recall 15V063. If it is, contact a Utility dealer to schedule actuator replacement. Reference recall number 15V063 and Utility recall number 14E075 when you call. The repair is free.
Does the recall repair cost anything?
No. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to perform the recall repair at no cost, and Utility dealers will replace the affected parking brake actuators free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is brake drag that overheats the wheel end service brakes and raises fire risk. The defect involves internal leakage in the actuator that traps air pressure in the parking brake section and prevents full release of the actuator unit.
When did Utility start this recall repair?
Utility began the recall repair on April 9, 2015. Owners can contact Utility customer service at 1-800-423-6591 or call a Utility dealer with recall number 15V063 and Utility recall number 14E075.
