Recall 15V025 affects 349 2015-2016 Mack Cxu, Leu, and Pinnacle (Cxu) trucks for brake actuator leakage. Repair is free at any franchised Mack dealer.
Mack is recalling 349 2015-2016 Cxu, Leu, and Pinnacle (Cxu) trucks because certain Haldex Life Seal air brake actuators have an incomplete internal diaphragm attachment. Internal leakage can trap air pressure in the parking brake section, keep the actuator from fully releasing, and overheat wheel-end service brakes, which increases the risk of a fire; Mack dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuator on these 2015-2016 Mack Cxu, Leu, and Pinnacle (Cxu) trucks helps operate the parking brake. Inside the actuator, a rubber diaphragm moves with air pressure and transfers force to the parking brake mechanism. The part depends on that diaphragm being fully seated and attached.
In the recalled actuators, the internal rubber diaphragm was not completely attached to the actuation mechanism in the parking brake section. When that connection is incomplete, the actuator does not move force through the parking brake section the way it was designed to. Mack identified the issue after Haldex reported suspect actuator part numbers and build dates.
There is no warning sign before failure. The recall record does not list a driver symptom to watch for, so a truck can be included even if the parking brake feels normal.
Who's affected?
Spans three Mack truck lines across the 2015 and 2016 model years, all involving the parking-brake actuator.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific truck.
What's the safety risk?
In NHTSA campaign 15V025, internal leakage in the brake actuator can trap air pressure in the parking brake section. That trapped pressure can keep the actuator from fully releasing, causing brake drag and overheated wheel end service brakes, increasing the risk of fire. Schedule the inspection soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mack dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2015-2016 Mack Cxu, Leu, or Pinnacle (Cxu) truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Mack dealer to schedule the free brake-actuator inspection and replacement that addresses brake drag and overheated wheelend service brakes.
- Bring the recall notice if Mack mailed one. If not, reference recall number 15V025 and Mack recall SC0387 when you call.
- Avoid driving if the parking brake does not fully release or the brakes drag; ask the Mack dealer about towing.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mack technician inspects the Haldex Life Seal brake actuator for the internal diaphragm attachment problem covered by recall 15V025. If the actuator does not pass inspection, the dealer replaces it. The inspection and any needed replacement are free under the recall. Mack's reimbursement plan addresses owner paid repairs completed before the recall notice on a case by case basis. If you've already paid for actuator related brake work, contact Mack customer service or ask the service desk how to submit your repair documentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 15V025?
Recall 15V025 covers 349 2015-2016 Mack Cxu, Leu, and Pinnacle (Cxu) trucks with certain Haldex Life Seal air brake actuators. An internal diaphragm attachment problem can trap air pressure, cause brake drag, overheat the wheel-end service brakes, and increase the risk of fire.
What should I do if my 2015-2016 Mack Cxu, Leu, or Pinnacle (Cxu) is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 15V025. If it is, contact a franchised Mack dealer to schedule the brake actuator inspection. The dealer will replace the actuator as needed for free. Reference Mack recall number SC0387 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and Mack dealers will inspect the brake actuator and replace it as needed free of charge. Mack began the recall on March 20, 2015.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is brake drag that overheats the wheel-end service brakes and increases fire risk. The defect involves the parking brake section of the actuator, where trapped air pressure can prevent full release. If you notice brake drag, heat, smoke, or a burning smell, stop using the truck and call a Mack dealer.
