What's wrong?
The Carefree Latitude awning on the 2015 Entegra Aspire is the exterior shade assembly mounted along the side of the motorhome. Its lateral arms hold the awning fabric out from the coach, and the arm brackets fasten those arms to the mounting brackets on the vehicle body. Those fasteners have to stay tight because the awning moves and carries load when it is opened, closed, or exposed to wind.
On the recalled awnings, the screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets were not manufactured to specification. That means the connection between the awning arm and the motorhome body is not as secure as designed. Entegra identified the issue after Carefree reported recalled Latitude awnings, including units with date codes 4100-4308.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner should not rely on noise, looseness, or visible movement as proof that the awning is safe.

What's the safety risk?
Failed awning screws can make the support bracket fail. If that happens, the awning can fall and strike or injure someone beneath it. Avoid standing or sitting under the awning until the screws are replaced. Repair will be free at any franchised Entegra dealer once available.

What happens at the repair
The known dealer repair is to remove and replace the defective screws that attach the Latitude awning lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets. Because the remedy status is still listed as under development, do not treat the final dealer repair as schedulable until Entegra opens it. Once available, an Entegra technician will complete the screw replacement free under the recall. If you already paid for related awning bracket screw repairs before the recall notice, Entegra has a general reimbursement plan on file. Contact Entegra customer service at 1-800-945-4787 for the submission steps and keep your repair documentation.
