What's wrong?
The fuel tank vent line on these 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Hd and Sierra Hd diesel trucks helps the fuel tank breathe as diesel fuel moves in and out. It gives air and vapor a controlled path so pressure does not build in the tank. A hose clamp holds that vent line in place at the tank connection.
On affected trucks, that clamp was not tightened properly during assembly. GM traced the problem to changes in the vehicle-production process that left the vent line unsecured on some trucks. If the line works loose, the tank vent connection is no longer held the way it was designed to be held.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner is not expected to hear, smell, or feel a clear change before the loose clamp becomes a problem.

What's the safety risk?
A loose hose clamp can let the fuel tank vent line detach and leak fuel, increasing fire risk. Schedule the recall inspection soon, and contact the dealer before driving again if you find a fuel leak. Repair is free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician inspects the fuel tank vent line hose clamp and tightens it if needed. The inspection and any clamp tightening are free under recall 14V820. Chevrolet says a separate reimbursement notice is not planned because all involved vehicles are covered under the new vehicle warranty. If you already paid for related work, ask the service desk how the new vehicle warranty applies to that prior repair paperwork.
