If that happens, the driver loses steering control, increasing crash risk; Spartan dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The steering linkage on 2013-2015 Spartan K2, Mm, Metrostar, Gladiator, and K3 chassis connects the steering gear to the front wheels. It is the mechanical path that turns driver input at the steering wheel into movement at the tires. On these motorhome chassis and emergency response chassis cabs, that linkage works with an independent front suspension supplied by Reyco Granning.
The issue is at the castle nuts that secure parts of the steering linkage. A castle nut is a slotted retaining nut used with a locking pin to hold a joint in place. On affected chassis, the independent front suspension was built with a manufacturing deviation, and the castle nuts can loosen. If that happens, the steering linkage can separate instead of holding the steering connection together.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or driver should not expect a noise, warning light, or change in steering feel before the nut loosens enough to let the linkage separate.
