What's wrong?
The diesel fuel heater on these 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks warms fuel as it moves through the engine-mounted fuel filter assembly. That helps diesel fuel flow through the filter in cold conditions. The electrical connector supplies power to that heater, and its terminals have to stay tight and clean so current moves without excess heat.
On affected trucks, the tin-plated terminals in the connector can develop electrical fretting corrosion, which means tiny movement and corrosion at the contact surface increase resistance. Higher resistance creates heat at the connector. That heat can deform the connector and damage the O-ring seal around the fuel heater terminals, allowing diesel fuel to leak at the fuel filter assembly.
The warning sign listed for this recall is an odor of diesel fuel. If you smell diesel near the truck, treat it as a sign that fuel is leaking around the heater connector and have the recall status checked before continuing normal use.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
Overheated connectors can let the fuel heater leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire. Diesel fuel odor is the warning sign to take seriously: stop using the truck, keep it away from ignition sources, and call the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Ram dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, or 5500 truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Ram dealer to schedule the free diesel fuel heater connector repair.
- Schedule the harness-side connector replacement and fuel heater leak inspection that fixes the overheating connector and fuel leak risk.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 14V635 and Ram recall P65 when you call.
- Call Ram customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with questions before the dealer visit.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ram technician replaces the harness side connector with a silver plated beryllium copper terminal service kit. The technician also inspects the diesel fuel heater for leaks and replaces the heater if the inspection finds leakage. Parts and labor are free under recall 14V635. If you already paid for this repair, Ram's reimbursement process asks for the original receipt or other proof of payment so the company can confirm the expense.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 14V635?
Recall 14V635 covers 315,325 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 diesel trucks with fuel-heater electrical connectors that can overheat. An overheated connector can lead to a fuel leak and fire risk. Ram dealers replace the harness-side connector and inspect the fuel heater for free.
What should I do if my 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, or 5500 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 14V635. If it is, contact a franchised Ram dealer to schedule the connector replacement and fuel-heater inspection. Reference recall number 14V635 and Ram recall number P65 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair the defect at no cost. For this recall, the dealer replaces the harness-side connector, installs the required terminal service kit, inspects the fuel heater for leaks, and replaces the fuel heater as needed for free.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is fire. The diesel fuel heater connector can overheat, and an overheated connector can lead to a fuel leak. Ram's remedy addresses the connector and checks the heater for leaks, so schedule the free dealer repair once your VIN is confirmed.
What if I bought my Ram truck used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the first owner. If you never received Ram's owner letter, check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included, then call a franchised Ram dealer with recall number 14V635.
