Recall 14V379 affects 16 2010-2013 Utec aerial trucks with PTO pressure-switch oil leaks that raise fire risk. Repair is free at any franchised Utec dealer.
Utec is recalling 16 2010-2013 UTLI41A, UTLN41, and UTLN46 aerial trucks equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO assemblies on Ford F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, and F-550 Sd vehicles. Oil can leak from the PTO pressure switch onto an exhaust thermal blanket, soaking the blanket and raising the risk of fire; the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The PTO, or power take-off, assembly on these 2010-2013 Utec UTLI41A, UTLN41, and UTLN46 aerial trucks lets engine power run work equipment mounted on the truck. On the Ford F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, and F-550 Sd chassis, that PTO system helps operate the aerial equipment instead of leaving that work to a separate engine.
The recalled trucks have certain Muncie Power Products PTO assemblies with a pressure switch that can leak oil. The pressure switch is part of the PTO control system, and oil from that switch can drip onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust. That puts oil on material wrapped around a hot exhaust area.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or operator should not rely on a dashboard light, noise, or change in aerial equipment operation to confirm the leak before the truck is inspected.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
Oil leaking near the exhaust can soak the thermal blanket over the exhaust. Heat from the exhaust then increases fire risk if oil remains on that material. Schedule the recall repair soon and have any oil leak checked before the truck returns to service. Repair will be free at any franchised Utec dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2013 Utec UTLN46, UTLI41A, F-550 Sd, F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, or UTLN41 is included in this recall.
- Review any owner notice Utec mailed for this recall before scheduling service.
- Contact Utec customer service at 1-254-857-8813 for repair direction and reference recall number 14V379 when you call.
- Schedule the free pressure-switch-kit installation that moves the leaking PTO pressure switch away from the exhaust system.
- Avoid operating the aerial truck near dry grass, fuel, or other fire hazards until the repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
The known dealer remedy is a new pressure switch kit. At the dealer, a Utec technician installs the kit so the pressure switch sits away from the exhaust system and the thermal blanket area where leaking oil was reported. The final dealer repair will be free once available, with parts and labor covered under the recall. The source record does not describe a separate reimbursement process for prior repairs.

What should I do if my 2010-2013 Utec UTLN46, UTLI41A, F-550 Sd, F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, or UTLN41 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 14V379. If it is, contact a franchised Utec dealer or Utec customer service at 1-254-857-8813 to schedule the pressure switch kit installation. Reference recall 14V379 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. For recall 14V379, dealers install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge.
What is the safety risk in recall 14V379?
