What's wrong?
The Muncie PTO pressure switch is a small threaded sensor installed on the power take-off system of the 2009-2014 Ford F-450 Sd, F-550 Sd, and F-350 Sd trucks in this recall. A PTO system lets truck-mounted equipment draw power from the vehicle, and a pressure switch is used to sense pressure in that system. On these trucks, the switch installed in the port was not being used for the vehicle's function.
The problem is that some of those pressure switches came from a defective production range. Because the switch was unnecessary, the repair removes the whole pressure switch assembly instead of replacing it with another switch. The dealer then installs a plug in the same port, which closes the opening without leaving an unused electrical or pressure-sensing part in place.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners should not rely on a light, sound, or change in how the truck drives to identify whether the defective switch is installed.

What's the safety risk?
Leaking oil can soak the thermal blanket over the exhaust. Exhaust heat can then raise the risk of fire. If your VIN is included, schedule the recall repair soon and have any oil leak inspected before more driving. Repair will be free at any franchised Ford dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2009-2014 Ford F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, or F-550 Sd is included in this recall.
- Contact your nearest franchised Ford dealer to ask whether the pressure switch kit is open for your VIN.
- Schedule the free pressure switch kit installation that moves the leaking PTO switch away from the exhaust fire risk.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 14V328 when you call.
- Avoid operating the equipment until the dealer confirms the pressure switch has been inspected or repaired.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ford technician installs a new pressure switch kit for the PTO pressure switch. The kit moves the switch away from the exhaust system, where heat exposure is the concern. The dealer repair will be free once available for your VIN. The recall began on July 28, 2014, so ask the service desk to confirm campaign 14V328 before scheduling work on a 2009-2014 F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, or F-550 Sd.
