Recall 14V226 covers 42 2007-2012 Glaval transit buses with wheelchair lift pendant cables that can short. Ask Glaval or Ricon for the free cover kit.
Glaval is recalling 42 2007-2012 Sport, Entourage, Concorde, Apollo, Titan, Titan Ii, Primetime, and Universal buses with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts because an armored pendant cable can interfere with the lift. If the cable contacts the power lug without a proper nonconductive cover, a short circuit can start a fire; the Glaval dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The wheelchair lift on 2007-2012 Glaval Universal, Primetime, Sport, Concorde, Titan, Titan Ii, Entourage, and Apollo buses is adaptive mobility equipment that raises and lowers a wheelchair user between the curb and the bus floor. The hand-held pendant is the control the operator uses to run that lift. Its armored cable protects the wiring inside the pendant lead while the lift moves.
On affected buses equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series lifts, the armored pendant cable is routed in a position that does not clear the wheelchair lift. As the platform moves, the cable can contact the lift structure instead of staying outside the moving path. That interference can keep the lift from moving as designed or leave the cable damaged.
There is no warning sign before failure. An operator inspecting the lift area before use can look for a pendant cable that hangs into the lift path, rubs the lift, or shows cable damage.

What's the safety risk?
A wheelchair lift cable that touches the power lug can short circuit when the nonconductive cover is missing or installed incorrectly. That short circuit can start a fire. No warning sign is listed for owners, so schedule the recall work soon and avoid using the lift if wiring looks exposed or out of place. Repair will be free at any franchised Glaval dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2007-2012 Glaval Sport, Entourage, Concorde, Apollo, Titan, Titan Ii, Primetime, or Universal bus is included in this recall.
- Review the owner notice from Glaval if you have it; the notice explains the free Ricon supplemental cover kit and instructions.
- Contact Glaval customer service at 1-800-445-2824 and reference recall number 14V226 when you call.
- Request the free Ricon supplemental cover kit that adds a nonconductive cover to the wheelchair-lift power-lug area.
- Keep the wheelchair lift out of service if the armored pendant cable contacts the lift or power lug until the cover kit is installed.
What happens at the repair
Glaval's remedy is a supplemental Ricon cover kit with installation instructions, provided at no charge. Because the remedy status is not listed as available, do not assume a dealer appointment is open from this page alone. Once the final dealer repair is available, a Glaval technician follows the Ricon instructions and installs the cover around the wheelchair lift pendant cable area. The goal is to keep the armored pendant cable clear of the lift during operation. Parts and labor are covered under the recall once the repair path is open.

Recall 14V226 covers 42 2007-2012 Glaval Sport, Entourage, Concorde, Apollo, Titan, Titan Ii, Primetime, and Universal transit buses equipped with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts and an optional armored pendant cable. The cable can contact the lift power lug and create a fire risk. Ricon provides the cover kit and instructions for free.
What should I do if my 2007-2012 Glaval Sport, Entourage, Concorde, Apollo, Titan, Titan Ii, Primetime, or Universal is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 14V226. If it is, contact Glaval customer service at 1-800-445-2824 and ask how to get the Ricon supplemental cover kit and instructions. Reference recall number 14V226 when you call.
