Recall 14V096 affects 9 2011-2012 Prevost X3 and Xlii coaches with AFSS tanks that can discharge. Repair is free at any franchised Prevost dealer.
Prevost is recalling 9 2011-2012 X3 and Xlii shell converted coaches because engine compartment heat can make the AFSS pressure relief tank discharge its fire extinguishing agent. If a vehicle fire happens after that discharge, the Automatic Fire Suppression System will not be available to help extinguish it, increasing the risk of injury; the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The automatic fire suppression system on 2011-2012 Prevost X3 and Xlii shell converted coaches is built to release fire extinguishing agent in the engine compartment when a fire is detected. Its pressure tank stores that agent under pressure, so the system has material ready at the point where engine heat and fuel sources are concentrated.
In affected coaches, engine compartment temperatures can cause the fire suppression pressure relief tank to discharge the extinguishing agent when there is no fire. Once the agent leaves the tank, the system no longer has its full charge available for the event it is meant to handle. That leaves the coach with reduced fire suppression coverage in the engine compartment until the recall repair is completed.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or driver can discover the problem only after the tank has discharged, such as during inspection or service.
Who's affected?
Covers the X3 and Xlii across the 2011 and 2012 model years, with the same equipment component listed for each.

| 2012 Prevost X3 | Equipment |
| 2011 Prevost Xlii | Equipment |
| 2012 Prevost Xlii | Equipment |

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.
What's the safety risk?
If the AFSS tank discharges before a vehicle fire, the Automatic Fire Suppression System will not be available to help extinguish the fire. That leaves occupants with less protection during a fire and increases the risk of injury. Schedule the repair soon and ask Prevost how to move the vehicle safely if you are concerned. Repair will be free at any franchised Prevost dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2011-2012 Prevost X3 or Xlii is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Prevost dealer to schedule the free pressure-relief-tank relocation that keeps the fire suppression system available during a vehicle fire.
- Bring the recall notice if Prevost mailed one. If not, reference recall number 14V096 when you call.
- Ask Prevost customer service at 1-877-773-8678 about repair timing and dealer instructions.
- Keep the coach out of high-heat engine-compartment service until the pressure relief tank is relocated.
What happens at the repair
The known dealer remedy is to relocate the Automatic Fire Suppression System pressure relief tank from the engine compartment area affected by high heat. Once the repair is available for your VIN, a Prevost technician performs that relocation at no charge. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. The filing does not provide a separate reimbursement plan, so ask the service desk what paperwork they need before the appointment.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 14V096?
Recall 14V096 covers 9 2011-2012 Prevost X3 and Xlii shell converted coaches with an Automatic Fire Suppression System pressure tank in the engine compartment. Heat in that area can discharge the tank's extinguishing agent before it is needed. Prevost dealers relocate the pressure relief tank for free.
What should I do if my 2011-2012 Prevost X3 or Xlii is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific coach is included in recall 14V096. If it is, contact a franchised Prevost dealer to schedule the pressure relief tank relocation. Reference recall 14V096 or Prevost recall SR14-16 when you call. The dealer repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires Prevost to repair this defect at no cost to the owner. A franchised Prevost dealer will relocate the Automatic Fire Suppression System pressure relief tank free of charge, including covered parts and labor.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is loss of fire suppression help when it is needed. If the AFSS tank discharges and there is a vehicle fire, the Automatic Fire Suppression System will be unavailable to assist with extinguishing the fire, increasing the risk of injury.
When did Prevost start this recall repair?
Prevost began the recall on April 12, 2014. If your 2011-2012 X3 or Xlii was never repaired, the open recall still follows the VIN. Check your VIN, then ask a Prevost dealer to confirm repair status and schedule the free relocation.
