What's wrong?
The door lock on affected 2006-2013 Haulmark Travel Trailer units is the Fastec-brand entry lock, which includes the key cylinder and the deadbolt. The key cylinder is the part the key turns, and the deadbolt is the metal latch that slides into the door frame to secure the trailer door. When it works correctly, the key turns the cylinder, moves the deadbolt, and releases the key only after the lock is in the right position.
On these trailers, the key can be pulled out in a position that leaves the deadbolt mechanism out of sequence. That misalignment can jam the deadbolt instead of letting it slide open. Once the deadbolt is jammed, the entry door can stay locked even when the owner is trying to unlock it from outside.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem appears during normal lock use, when the key is removed and the deadbolt no longer moves as expected.
Who's affected?

The year and model narrow the recall, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.
What's the safety risk?
A jammed deadbolt can also jam the interior side of the lock. Someone inside the travel trailer can be locked in and unable to exit, increasing the risk of injury. Treat any sticking deadbolt as a reason to stop using that door and arrange service. Repair will be free at any franchised Haulmark dealer once available.

- Avoid locking the trailer deadbolt from inside until the lock cylinder has been inspected or replaced.
What happens at the repair
Once the dealer repair is available for an included trailer, a Haulmark technician inspects the Fastec door lock cylinders and replaces any cylinders that need replacement. The repair is free under the recall, with Fastec coordinating the inspection and cylinder replacement. Haulmark began owner notification on January 10, 2014. When you contact the dealer, have the VIN ready and ask whether the lock cylinder inspection and replacement are open for your 2006-2013 Travel Trailer.
