Recall 13V458 covers 1,145 2010-2013 Altec aerial devices for PTO oil leaking onto an exhaust thermal blanket. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
Altec is recalling 1,145 2010-2013 AT200A, AT235, AT235P, AT30-G, AT35-G, AT37-G, AT40-G, and AT237 aerial devices because oil can leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket over the exhaust. What's wrong?
The affected 2010-2013 Altec AT200A, AT235, AT235P, AT30-G, AT35-G, AT37-G, AT40-G, and AT237 aerial devices are mounted on Ford Super Duty chassis with 6.8L gas engines and Muncie FR67 power take offs. A power take off, or PTO, uses engine power to run auxiliary equipment. The PTO pressure switch is part of that system, and the thermal blanket over the exhaust is there to contain exhaust heat.
On these Altec units, oil leaks from the PTO pressure switch. The leak path matters because the oil lands on the thermal blanket that covers the exhaust. That places leaking oil on material wrapped around a hot exhaust area instead of keeping it contained inside the PTO system.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners and fleet operators should treat any oil smell, visible oil near the PTO pressure switch, or oil on the exhaust blanket as a reason to keep the unit out of service until Altec completes the recall repair.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific vehicle.
What's the safety risk?
Oil leaking onto the thermal blanket, combined with exhaust heat, increases fire risk. Schedule the repair soon. If you see oil near the thermal blanket or exhaust area, park safely and contact an Altec dealer before further use. Repair will be free at any franchised Altec dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2013 Altec AT237, AT30-G, AT200A, AT235, AT235P, AT35-G, AT37-G, or AT40-G is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Altec dealer to schedule the free pressure-switch and thermal-blanket replacement that addresses the PTO oil leak near the exhaust.
- Reference recall number 13V458 and Altec recall CSN 583 when you call.
- Bring the recall notice if Altec sent one, and ask the dealer to confirm that the Muncie repair kit applies to your aerial device.
- Keep the vehicle away from heat sources and have the PTO oil-leak repair completed before putting the equipment back in service.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Altec technician replaces the PTO pressure switch and thermal blanket with the kit identified by Muncie. The dealer repair will be free once available, with parts and labor covered under the recall. Because the remedy status is not listed here, confirm appointment timing with an Altec dealer or service contact before you bring the vehicle in. The repair focuses on replacing the switch and blanket called out in the remedy, not a broad PTO replacement.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 13V458?
Recall 13V458 covers 1,145 2010-2013 Altec AT237, AT30-G, AT200A, AT235, AT235P, AT35-G, AT37-G, and AT40-G aerial devices. Oil can leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket near the exhaust, increasing fire risk. Altec dealers replace the pressure switch and thermal blanket for free.
What should I do if my 2010-2013 Altec AT237, AT30-G, AT200A, AT235, AT235P, AT35-G, AT37-G, or AT40-G is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Altec aerial device is included in recall 13V458. If it is, contact an Altec dealer or Altec at 1-877-462-5832 and reference recall CSN 583. The dealer repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Altec dealers will replace the affected pressure switch and thermal blanket with the Muncie kit free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is fire. In affected Altec aerial devices, oil from the PTO pressure switch can leak onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust. Heat from the exhaust combined with leaked oil increases the risk of fire until the pressure switch and blanket are replaced.
When did Altec start this recall repair?
Altec began the recall repair on December 9, 2013. Owners with an affected VIN can contact an Altec dealer or call Altec at 1-877-462-5832 to arrange the free pressure switch and thermal blanket replacement.
