Recall 13V452 affects 3,161 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles for a right-front half-shaft fracture. Repair is free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer.
Chevrolet is recalling 3,161 2013-2014 Cruze vehicles with manual transmissions because the right front half shaft can fracture and separate. If that happens while driving, the car can lose power and coast to a stop; if parked without the parking brake, it can move unexpectedly, and the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The right front half shaft on the 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze is a steel drive axle that connects the manual transmission to the right front wheel. When the engine and transmission send power forward, the half shaft turns the wheel while still allowing suspension movement and steering angle. It has to stay locked together under acceleration, turning, and road vibration.
On the recalled Cruze vehicles with MF3 or MR5 manual transmissions, that right front half shaft can fracture and separate. Once it breaks, the connection between the transmission and the right front wheel is lost. The vehicle will not deliver power through that shaft, and the broken axle section can leave the car unable to move normally.
There is no warning sign before failure. If the shaft breaks, the first thing an owner notices is the sudden loss of normal drive from the right front axle.
Who's affected?
The same drive axle component is listed for both Cruze model years.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific car is included.
What's the safety risk?
A fractured half shaft can separate while driving, causing the Cruze to lose power and coast to a stop. A parked vehicle with a fractured half shaft can also roll if the parking brake is not applied. Use the parking brake every time and schedule the repair soon. Repair will be free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer and ask them to confirm the free right-front half-shaft assembly replacement for your VIN.
- Reference recall number 13V452 and Chevrolet campaign number 13276 when you call.
- Bring the recall notice if Chevrolet mailed one, or bring your VIN result if you do not have the letter.
- Drive carefully until the repair is complete, and apply the parking brake every time you park.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician replaces the right front half shaft assembly covered by recall 13V452. The half shaft transfers power to the wheel, so the repair replaces the assembly that can fracture and separate on affected 2013-2014 Cruze vehicles with manual transmissions. The dealer repair will be free once available for your VIN, with parts and labor covered under the recall.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 13V452?
Recall 13V452 covers 3,161 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles with manual transmissions built from January 24, 2013, through August 1, 2013. The right front half shaft can fracture and separate. Chevrolet dealers will replace the half shaft assembly for free.
What should I do if my 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Cruze is included in recall 13V452. If it is, contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the half shaft assembly replacement. Reference recall number 13V452 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Chevrolet dealers will replace the half shaft assembly free of charge, and General Motors lists 1-800-521-7300 for owner questions about this recall.
Is it safe to drive my Chevrolet Cruze before the repair?
Chevrolet did not issue do-not-drive instructions in this recall. The risk is that a fractured half shaft can make the vehicle lose power and coast to a stop, increasing crash risk. Confirm your VIN and arrange the free dealer repair.
What if I bought my Chevrolet Cruze used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the first owner. If you never received the owner notice, check your VIN to confirm whether your specific 2013-2014 Cruze is included, then call a Chevrolet dealer with recall number 13V452.
