What's wrong?
The 2010-2012 Jerr-Dan Standard Duty Wrecker uses hydraulic brake hoses to carry pressurized brake fluid through the braking system. The ABS module helps manage wheel lockup during hard braking. These wreckers also have a Muncie clutch pump power take off, or PTO, which uses engine power from the 6.2L Triton gasoline engine to run wrecker equipment.
To install that PTO, the ABS module was moved from its original position. In the new location, a brake hose from the ABS module sits close enough to nearby components that it can rub against them. That rubbing is the defect. Over time, contact against another part wears the outside of the hose and damages the line that the brake system depends on.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner is not told to watch for a specific light, sound, pedal feel, or visible leak in the recall filing.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific truck.
What's the safety risk?
Brake line chafing can reduce brake pressure, which means the vehicle needs more distance to stop and the crash risk increases. If the brake pedal feels abnormal or braking changes, stop using the truck and contact a franchised Jerr-Dan dealer for repair guidance. Repair will be free at any franchised Jerr-Dan dealer once available.
