What's wrong?
The fuel delivery pipes on the 2005-2007 Mitsubishi Fuso FE83D, FG84D, FE85D, and FE84D trucks carry fuel from the truck's fuel system toward the engine. They are metal lines with fittings that have to stay sealed while the engine is running and the truck is moving. The flare nuts are the threaded fittings that clamp the pipe ends tight so fuel stays inside the line.
On affected trucks, the fuel pipes were made with an improper manufacturing process. That leaves the pipe vulnerable to cracking. The flare nuts also were not tightened enough, so a pipe connection can loosen and leak fuel even if the pipe itself has not split.
There is no warning sign before failure. Do not rely on a dashboard light or drivability change to tell you the fuel pipe or fitting has started to fail.
