Recall 12V293 covers 2,209 2006-2010 Starcraft buses for bent wheelchair-lift roll-stop latches. Repair is free through authorized Braun dealers.
Starcraft is recalling 2,209 2006-2010 buses, including XLT and Ultrastar models, equipped with Braun Century-2 or Vista-2 wheelchair lifts because the outer barrier roll stop latches can bend or fall out of alignment. A wheelchair occupant can ride over an insufficiently latched roll stop on an elevated platform and fall; the Starcraft dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lift on 2006-2010 Starcraft XLT, Ultrastar, Starquest, Allstar Xl, Allstar, and Starlite buses is the platform used to raise and lower a wheelchair passenger. The outer barrier is the gate at the outside edge of the platform. Its roll stop latches hold that barrier in position so the wheelchair stays on the platform during lift movement.
On affected buses, frequent lift use bends or misaligns the roll stop latches on the outer barrier. Once the latch position changes, the barrier no longer locks the way it was designed to lock. That weakens the lift's edge protection while a wheelchair passenger is being raised or lowered.
There is no warning sign before failure. A driver or attendant should treat any lift barrier that does not sit straight or latch firmly as a problem that needs service before the lift is used again.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.
What's the safety risk?
An insufficiently latched roll stop can let a wheelchair occupant ride over the stop while the lift platform is elevated. That creates a fall risk and an injury risk for the wheelchair occupant. Until the repair is confirmed, use extra care with the lift and schedule service soon. Repair will be free at any franchised Starcraft dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2006-2010 Starcraft XLT, Ultrastar, Starquest, Allstar Xl, Allstar, or Starlite bus is included in this recall.
- Contact Starcraft at 1-800-347-7440 to confirm the repair path for this wheelchair-lift recall.
- Ask where to schedule the free roll-stop latch repair that fixes the bent or misaligned outer barrier latch on the Braun Century-2 or Vista-2 wheelchair lift.
- Reference recall number 12V293 when you call Starcraft or the repair facility.
- Avoid using the wheelchair lift with an occupant until the roll-stop latch repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
Once the remedy is available, an authorized Starcraft dealer will complete the lift repair free of charge. The work centers on the Braun wheelchair lift, where the outer barrier roll stop latches can bend or move out of alignment after frequent use. A Starcraft technician will inspect the lift barrier and repair the latch or related hardware needed to restore the roll stop function. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Starcraft's notice also directs owners to Starcraft Bus customer support for repair coordination.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 12V293?
Recall 12V293 covers 2,209 2006-2010 Starcraft XLT, Ultrastar, Starquest, Allstar Xl, Allstar, and Starlite buses with Braun Century-2 or Vista-2 wheelchair lifts. The outer roll-stop latches can bend or shift out of alignment, and authorized Braun dealers perform the repair for free.
What should I do if my 2006-2010 Starcraft XLT, Ultrastar, Starquest, Allstar Xl, Allstar, or Starlite is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 12V293. If it is, contact Starcraft at 1-800-347-7440 or a franchised Starcraft service contact to arrange the free wheelchair-lift repair through an authorized Braun dealer.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to fix the defect at no cost, and Starcraft's remedy states that authorized Braun dealers perform the repair free of charge. The free repair applies to included buses regardless of current ownership.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is a wheelchair occupant moving past an insufficiently latched outer roll stop while the lift platform is raised. If that happens, the occupant can fall from the platform and be injured. Confirm the VIN, then arrange the free repair before relying on the lift.
What if I bought my Starcraft bus used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall eligibility follows the VIN, not the first owner, so a used 2006-2010 Starcraft bus still qualifies if its VIN is included. Check your VIN and reference recall 12V293 when you contact Starcraft or the service desk.
