What's wrong?
The underhood fuel supply line on 2006-2010 Volkswagen Jetta, Beetle, and Rabbit vehicles carries gasoline from the tank area toward the engine. It has to stay routed clear of nearby parts because vibration, heat, and normal engine movement put pressure on anything that touches it.
On Jetta and Rabbit vehicles, a small plastic tab on the windshield washer fluid reservoir can rub against the fuel line. On Beetle vehicles, a clamp on a power steering hydraulic hose can sit in the wrong position and rub against the same type of fuel line. That contact wears the outside of the line. If the line is damaged deeply enough, gasoline can leak under the hood.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner is not expected to hear, see, or feel the chafing before the fuel line is already damaged.

What's the safety risk?
Fuel-line chafing can let fuel leak under the hood. If that fuel reaches an ignition source, the result is a fire risk. Schedule the recall inspection soon and ask the dealer how to handle the vehicle before the appointment. Repair will be free at any franchised Volkswagen dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2006-2010 Volkswagen Jetta, Beetle, or Rabbit is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Volkswagen dealer and ask whether recall number 10V621 is open for your VIN.
- Ask the dealer about the free underhood fuel-line inspection and repair that fixes chafing from the washer-reservoir tab or power-steering hose clamp.
- Bring the recall notice if Volkswagen mailed one, and give the service desk recall number 10V621 when you schedule.
- Avoid parking near ignition sources if you smell fuel, and have the vehicle inspected before driving again.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Volkswagen technician inspects the underhood fuel line and replaces it if damage or contact risk is found. Depending on the model, the technician also removes the plastic tab from the windshield washer fluid reservoir, or checks the power steering hydraulic hose fastening clamp and adjusts it into the correct position. The dealer repair is free under the recall once available for the VIN.
