2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 Eldorado Transit Recall 10V119: Lift

Recall 10V119 covers 34 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 Eldorado buses with Ricon lifts whose restraint belts can appear latched. Ricon handles the free remedy.

Eldorado is recalling 34 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 Xhf, Transmark, Escort Re-A, and Mst Ii transit buses with Ricon public-use lifts because the restraint belt can look latched without being fully buckled. That can let the lift move with a rider on the platform and put the lift user at risk of injury; the Eldorado dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?

The Ricon public use lift on these Eldorado Xhf, Transmark, Escort Re-A, and Mst Ii buses uses a restraint belt to control when the lift platform moves. The belt tongue is supposed to click into the buckle and latch fully before the operator runs the lift. That latch is the signal that the occupant is restrained on the platform.

On affected lifts, the belt tongue can be pushed into the buckle without fully engaging the latch. From the operator's position, the belt can look latched even though the locking mechanism has not caught. The lift then runs with an occupant on the platform while the restraint belt is not actually secured.

There is no warning sign before failure. The problem is the false latch condition itself: the belt looks ready, but the buckle has not locked the tongue in place.

Who's affected?

The listed model years are not continuous: 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 buses are in scope.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.

What's the safety risk?

If the wheelchair lift moves while the restraint belt is not properly buckled, the lift user can be injured. Use the lift only with the restraint belt secured, and arrange recall service before regular lift use continues. Repair will be free at any franchised Eldorado dealer once available.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 Eldorado Xhf, Transmark, Escort Re-A, or Mst Ii bus is included in this recall.
  2. Check for owner instructions from Eldorado or Ricon before using the public-use lift.
  3. Ask Ricon customer service for the warning decal and DVD training aid that explain how to confirm the lift restraint belt is fully latched before operation.
  4. Reference recall number 10V119 when you call Eldorado or Ricon.
  5. Keep the lift out of service until operators have the decal and training aid and know how to verify the restraint belt latch.

What happens at the repair

Eldorado is working with Ricon on the remedy for campaign 10V119. The known remedy is a warning decal and a DVD-based training aid for the Ricon public use lift, handled by Ricon. The filing does not list a final dealer repair as open, so do not treat this as a scheduled repair yet. Once the final remedy is available, the dealer remedy will be free. Ask the service desk to confirm whether the Ricon lift remedy has already been completed on your bus.
